Sustainability

Our Values

Nutrigold is a professional and environmentally conscious organisation who will meet or exceed all environmental legislation. The environmental impact of all our activities is a key concern of our business and we are constantly striving to make improvements and pushing our suppliers to do the same.

You can rest assured that sustainability is an important issue to us here at Nutrigold and something we will continue to improve upon with detailed and conscientious research.

Our Packaging

We use predominantly Bio-Pots made from sugar cane, click here for more information. We also use PET plastic pots as they are made from partly or fully recycled materials and are 100% recyclable themselves. Crucially, this is in line with the current recycling capabilities in the UK and Europe. These pots are also “low energy” production, as we try to steer away from “high energy” glass usage. Of course, plastic is not suitable for some liquids and probiotics according to our technical data and this is when we will use glass.

We are committed to our reuse policy, and much of the packaging you receive when ordering from us will be reused materials. Our warehouse team use Biofil™ packing peanuts to fill boxes which are dissolvable in water and seal our packages with 100% recyclable bio tape. We will always aim to use the smallest packages possible to cut down on the amount of transportation needing to be used.

Our Workplace

All our workplace waste is “Zero to Landfill”

Our forklift is run on electric, and all our wooden pallets are reused or recycled. We encourage all our staff to act as sustainably as possible, from the simplicity of switching off our low voltage lights and photocopiers when not needed to enabling them to enrol in an Electric Vehicle Scheme.

Our Delivery Partners

As part of our ongoing sustainability commitment and overall reduction of our carbon footprint we also choose partners and suppliers with similar values and ambitions. Our courier providers DPD and Royal Mail are converting to electric van fleets faster than any other companies in the UK.

DPD now has the largest, greenest delivery fleet in the UK. At the start of 2020, DPD had just over 130 EVs on the road and the rapid rise to becoming the most sustainable parcel delivery company in the UK. DPD UK has confirmed that it is now providing an all-electric delivery service to 10 UK towns and cities and is aiming for 30 all-electric locations by the end of 2023.

Royal Mail's continued commitment to delivering on foot wherever possible means Royal Mail has the lowest CO2 emissions per parcel. With the UK's largest "Feet on the Street" network of over 85,000 postmen and women, Royal Mail already has the lowest reported CO2 emissions per parcel amongst major UK delivery companies. Earlier in 2021, Royal Mail announced a ten-fold increase in the number of electric vehicles in their fleet with plans to introduce around 3,000 additional electric vans throughout the UK.
